Sermon Text: Joshua 5:13 - 6:21

This is an exciting account that assures that God is a warrior who fights for his people. But historical narrative is not in Scripture to entertain us with a good story well told. This is not just an ancient story about the battle of Jericho; it is in so many ways our story. The battle of Jericho was a picture of how God accomplishes our salvation, and of the faith through which his grace flows to us. It shows that Christ alone secures our salvation through the weakness and foolishness of the cross. And in all of the spiritual battles of our life Christ is accomplishing victory, even when we feel like we’re losing ground. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ. He has won the ultimate war and equips us for our battles. He is the Strength that meets us in our weakness.
