Attributes

We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. (2Cor 4:7-9)

Ah, LORD God. Triune King of all creation. Yahweh: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Glorious and Majestic in all that You are and do.
We pledge our faith and our lives to You, and You only. For You Alone are worthy of our praise.
In Christ Alone we find salvation, and by Your Spirit Alone we are conformed into His image.

When we are convicted by our many character flaws, we remember that You are Simple;
     the God Who is all of His attributes perfectly, absolutely, and necessarily.

When we are pressured to live only for today, we remember that You are Eternal;
     the God Who holds the past, present, and future.

When we are tempted by the flesh, we remember that you are Spirit;
     the God Who has given us armor for the battle against cosmic powers of darkness.

     the God Who knows no boundaries or limits.

When we are confused by revolution in the land, we remember that You are Unchangeable;
     the God Who will always remain the same.

When we are inadequate to the challenges we face, we remember that You are Independent;
     the God Who is all-sufficient.

When we are lost in the wilderness of this age, we remember that You are Omnipresent;
     the God Who is always with us.

When we are ignorant of what to do, we remember that You are Omniscient;
     the God Who knows all things perfectly.

When we are overwhelmed by our enemies, we remember that You are Omnipotent;
     the God Who has all power.

When we are hated by the world, we remember that You are Blessed;
     the God Who teaches us to rejoice in persecution.

When we are troubled by cultural madness, we remember that You are Sovereign;
     the God Who works all things after the counsel of His will.

When we are appalled by shameless immorality, we remember that You are Love;
     the God Who overcomes evil with kindness.

When we are grieved by mistreatment of those who bear your image, we remember that You are Good;
     the God Who calls us to love and protect our neighbors as ourselves.

When we are restless for change, we remember that You are Patient;
     the God Who accomplishes His decree in His timing.

When we are condemned by those who offer no forgiveness, we remember that You are Merciful;
     the God Who can break even the hardest heart.

When we are deceived by hollow reasoning, we remember that You are Wise;
     the God Who acts in virtue and truth.

When we are discouraged by our indwelling sin, we remember that You are Holy;
     the God Who is morally pure.

When we are disappointed by others, we remember that You are Faithful;
     the God Who keeps His covenant promises.

When we are indignant at the wicked deeds of the godless, we remember that You are Gracious;
     the God Who rescued us from our rebellion.

When we are dismayed by injustice in our society, we remember that You are Just;
     the God Who will judge all the earth in fairness and impartiality.

When we are outraged by mayhem and anarchy, we remember that You are Angry;
     the God Who stands righteously against that which opposes His Holy Law.
